REdiscovering TST : Crossing the boundaries – Stories of asylum seekers and migrants 2019-2020
“Rediscovering TST” was THE DOOOR’s annual project to explore the lesser-known side of TST (Tsim Sha Tsui) through exhibitions, collaboration with local artists and workshops to bring the community together.
In 2019, the project featured the exhibition “Crossing the Boundaries – Stories of Asylum Seekers and Migrants,” with educational programs focusing on the people who spend time in Tsim Sha Tsui. The exhibition was based on the perspective of asylum seekers and migrants. We interviewed them in the city and collected sounds from different places. The artist recreated the city landmarks and human landscape through carved paper, and each landmark was accompanied by soundscape(s), allowing them to be in the installation. THE DOOOR also launched a series of educational programs to arouse the public’s awareness and rethink the relationship between place and the societies we inhabit.
