"Old bicycle diary" project, 2018
This was a local culture preservation project initiated by a group of vintage bicycle enthusiasts, co-curated by Slow-Mo Classics and Alice Fu, aimed at promoting the use of bicycles in everyday life, celebrating the traditional culture of Hong Kong, and honouring the grassroots people who have contributed to the city's prosperity. The project also sought to raise public awareness about road user rights and safe cycling. Old bicycles are still in use in Hong Kong, and we felt they should remain part of the community, rather than being confined to museum displays. We selected Yau Ma Tei, a local grassroots area, and collaborated with Green Wave Art and Kai Fong Pai Dong to extend the exhibition from indoor to outdoor spaces, allowing the public to try out the old bicycles in an area where many local workers still use them for transporting goods.
